We're reinventing email to make it smarter, collaborative, and integrated with the tools you use. More than 2,000 businesses (inc. Tesla, Stripe, Weight Watchers, Dropbox, LVMH, etc.) rely on Front to manage shared email addresses like sales@ or support@, SMS, social media channels, live chat, and more. With rule-based automations, internal commenting, and integrations with tools like Salesforce, GitHub, JIRA, and Slack, Front helps teams of all sizes simplify their inboxes while getting more done. We are currently processing more than 1M messages/day, scaling to multiple data centers, and improving our real-time infrastructure to help our biggest customers operate better (500+ simultaneous users). Position 1 - SR BACKEND ENGINEER

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience working on backend systems at a large-scale internet service
  • 2+ years of working on software systems build atop Amazon Web Services
  • Fluency in a dynamic language like Javascript, Python, Ruby, or similar
  • Track record of designing and implementing complex and scalable software services
  • Experience architecting, deploying and operating asynchronous work queues, high-volume storage systems, and high-throughput systems
  • Experience with performance benchmarking and diagnostic tools
  • Understand the trade-offs in employing different engineering solutions to a problem, valuing pragmatism over idealism
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth environment
  • Bonus
    • Experience working with a multi-data center setup
    • Extensive experience in node.js, MySQL and memcached on AWS
    • Familiarity with email formats or intricate details of HTML parsing
  •  Web backend people are quite different from 'scale / infra backend'.
    • Web backend - you'll tend to see ruby/rails, python/django, node.js
    • "full-stack", worked at smaller companies / startups that are not big data oriented, e.g. food delivery service, task tracking software, mobile app
    • scale / infra backend - you'll tend to see more of: java, scala, kafka (queue), AWS / devops experience, managing a cluster of MySQL / other database, worked at big data startups (e.g. many ad tech startups), companies that have high throughput of data (e.g. segment), larger companies at scale (e.g. dropbox, facebook)
      • the experienced scale / infra backend profile tends to be a bit more specialized, yet we're also still small enough such that we want someone who can take on a breadth of different types of work - that's sorta what's making it challenging for us as well.

Position 3 - FULL STACK ENGINEER (Integration Engineer)

Requirements:

  • Javascript Fulltack
  • 2+ years of experience with emphasis on backend
  • Ideally a CS degree
  • Full-Stack: integrations touch all aspects of the stack; it can be a new panel in our app or an automated server-side connector
  • Product minded: figure out the best way to connect tools seamlessly
  • Familiar with SaaS in general and be opinionated about the best way to make an integration
  • Comfortable with all sorts of APIs, reading docs and asking questions

Position 4 - FULL STACK ENGINEER (Internal Tools & Technical customer contact)

Requirements:

  • Javascript fullstack
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with the following systems: HTTP, HTML, REST, email, MySQL, node.js would be a plus
  • Experience providing technical support for cross platform products (iOS, Android, etc.)
  • Ability to remain calm, composed and articulate when dealing with tough customer situations
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, both technical and human

Position 5: Frontend Engineering Manager 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience building fast, reliable, real-time web-based applications
  • 2+ years managing high-performing frontend teams that exemplify a culture of excellence
  • Knowledgeable about modern web technologies and excited to learn new ones, e.g. ES6, Babel, Electron, AngularJS, React
