  • 30m phone screen with the CTO - look for people who are optimistic/positive, learner and curious about new technologies

  • 1hr coffee with the CTO - go over past work experience to get to know each other

  • 3-4hr on site - 1 hr coding, 1 hr problem solving (data structure with increasing complexity and optimization, 1 hr architecture - design various components to build some app.

  • Technical Skills
    • Back End:
      • Ideally Ruby on Rails
      • Must have strong experience with back end languages (Ruby, Python, Java, Node.js, Scala).
      • Must have web application development experience
    • Front End:
      • Must have some JavaScript experience
      • Ideally, React, Angular  
      • Light front end is fine
  • Experience
    • 3+ years. Ideally 5 years experience.  
    • Ideally has startup experience beyond series A (built products with strong traction)
    • Large public tech companies are OK (but not non-tech companies like Target or GE)
    • No contractors, consultants background
  • Education
    • CS degree - ideally from top 25 schools.
    • Engineering or related technical disciplines ok 
    • UC Davis level candidates have not been able to pass the interviews.
    • Bootcamp / Non-CS degree with >3 years work experience (full time, not contracting) at known companies acceptable

Position3: Senior UI/UX DesigneR

Must Haves

  • B.A. / B.S. Degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, etc), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Prior team leading experience is a plus
  • 3–5+ years of professional end-to-end product design (hybrid UX and UI) experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience designing for web and mobile, with some experience creating prototypes, or writing HTML/CSS/JS
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of and high degree of empathy for the user experience
  • Ability to work with a diverse team and thrive in a fast-paced team environment


  • Shape and influence the design culture and brand
  • Collaborate closely with Product Leadership to define product goals and contribute to the overall direction of your product area
  • Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Handle the entire product cycle from researching, wireframing, prototyping, and creating high-fidelity mocks
  • Work extremely closely with the Engineering team to ensure a high-quality implementation
  • Give and solicit feedback from your peers, including other product designers and teammates in your product team in order to improve design processes and quality
  • Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams
